LG range safety notice — here is what every homeowner should know.
LG gas range: carbon monoxide safety advisory — here’s what you need to know.
Applies To: All LG gas ranges, cooktops, and ovens
Advisory Type: Carbon monoxide safety advisory
Issue: All gas cooking appliances produce carbon monoxide (CO) as a normal byproduct of combustion. Under normal operating conditions with proper ventilation, CO levels are safe. However, improper ventilation, clogged burner ports, or malfunctioning gas valves can increase CO production to dangerous levels. Carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless — it cannot be detected by human senses.
Required Safety Measures: Install a carbon monoxide detector within 15 feet of any gas appliance. Always use the range hood or exhaust vent when using gas burners or the oven. Ensure kitchen ventilation is adequate — if no range hood exists, open a nearby window. Never use the oven or stove for home heating. Have gas connections inspected by a qualified technician annually.
Warning Signs: Yellow or orange burner flames (should be blue with small yellow tips), soot or carbon buildup around burner ports, a gas or unusual smell during operation, persistent headaches or nausea when using gas appliances. If your CO detector alarms or you experience symptoms of CO poisoning (headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion), immediately open windows, evacuate the home, and call 911.
Never do this: Never use your LG gas oven or stovetop to heat your home. This produces dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in enclosed spaces and has caused fatalities.
