LG washer recall — here is what every homeowner should know.
LG washing machine recall: fire hazard (top-load models 2010–2016) — here’s what you need to know.
Date: November 2012 / Expanded August 2016
CPSC Recall Number: 16-253
Affected Models: Approximately 457,000 LG and Kenmore Elite top-load washing machines manufactured between 2010 and 2016. Multiple model numbers affected — verify your model at cpsc.gov or lg.com.
Issue: The washing machine drum can lose balance during high-speed spin cycles, causing excessive vibration that may cause the top of the washer to detach. This poses a risk of injury from the detached top and potential water damage. There have been reports of impact injuries and property damage.
Consumer Action: Stop using the washer immediately and contact LG for a free in-home repair. LG will reinforce the washer to prevent the top from detaching. Do not use the washer until the repair has been completed.
Remedy: Free in-home repair to reinforce the washing machine. Contact LG at 1-800-243-0000.
