Lg freezer proper food storage temperature — here is what every homeowner should know.
LG freezer safety notice — here is what every homeowner should know.
LG freezer: proper food storage temperature advisory — here’s what you need to know.
Applies To: All LG freezers and refrigerator freezer compartments
Advisory Type: Food safety advisory
Issue: Improper freezer temperature settings can lead to food quality degradation and potential food safety risks. LG freezers should be set to 0°F (−18°C) for optimal food preservation and safety. Temperatures above 0°F allow slow bacterial growth and accelerate freezer burn.
Optimal Settings: Set your LG freezer to 0°F (−18°C). Use an appliance thermometer to verify the temperature, as the built-in thermostat may have slight variations. Place the thermometer between frozen food packages for the most accurate reading. Check the temperature weekly and adjust as needed.
Overloading Warning: An overpacked freezer restricts air circulation, creating warm spots where food may not freeze properly. Leave space between items for air to circulate. However, a full freezer is more efficient than an empty one — frozen items help maintain cold temperatures when the door is opened. The ideal is 75–85% full with room for air flow.
Door Seal Check: A damaged or dirty freezer door seal allows warm air infiltration, causing frost buildup and temperature fluctuations. Test the seal with the dollar bill test: close the door on a dollar bill; if it slides out easily, the seal needs attention. Clean seals with warm soapy water and replace if cracked, torn, or no longer making proper contact.
